Land Cruiser / PRADO 120: Instalere ny SCV ventil
Jeg startet å få mistanke om noe feil med diesel tilførselen på min 120 serie. En av mange feil jeg har måttet slite med på denne bilen dessverre!
Nå startet jeg jobben med å komme til og se om jeg kunne avsløre noe med pumpen som står montert i tanken!
Hva gjør en SCV-ventil?SCV-ventilen fungerer som dørvakten for drivstoffet inn til høytrykkspumpen.Den regulerer nøyaktig hvor mye diesel som slippes inn i selve høytrykkspumpen basert på signaler fra bilens hjerne (ECU).Ved å kontrollere mengden diesel inn på et tidlig stadium, sørger den for at trykket i common rail-røret (drivstoffskinnen) alltid er perfekt justert i forhold til om motoren går på tomgang, cruiser på motorveien eller akselererer kraftig.Hvis SCV-ventilen fusker, klarer ikke motoren å holde et stabilt drivstofftrykk. Dette fører til ujevn tomgang, jaging på turtall, at motoren plutselig går i nødmodus (Limp Mode), eller at bilen kveles helt under kjøring – noe som er svært vanlig på eldre Toyota-modeller.Hvorfor bør man bytte fra den «korte» til den «lange» typen?Hvis du har en Toyota Land Cruiser 120 (eller Hilux/Hiace med 1KD-FTV eller 2KD-FTV-motor), ble disse levert fra fabrikken med en kort type SCV-ventil. Denne originale korte ventilen hadde en alvorlig svakhet i konstruksjonen

I started to suspect something was wrong with the diesel supply on my 120 series. One of many faults I have had to deal with on this car unfortunately!
Now I started the job of getting to it and seeing if I could uncover something with the pump that is mounted in the tank!
What does an SCV valve do? The SCV valve acts as the gatekeeper for the fuel entering the high-pressure pump. It regulates exactly how much diesel is let into the high-pressure pump itself based on signals from the car’s brain (ECU). By controlling the amount of diesel entering at an early stage, it ensures that the pressure in the common rail pipe (fuel rail) is always perfectly adjusted in relation to whether the engine is idling, cruising on the highway or accelerating heavily. If the SCV valve is faulty, the engine is unable to maintain a stable fuel pressure. This leads to rough idling, speed hunting, the engine suddenly going into limp mode, or the car completely choking while driving – which is very common on older Toyota models. Why change from the «short» to the «long» type? If you have a Toyota Land Cruiser 120 (or Hilux/Hiace with a 1KD-FTV or 2KD-FTV engine), these were delivered from the factory with a short type SCV valve. This original short valve had a serious weakness in its design.
